Important information for applicants

The following steps must be taken before making application for Report and Consent, under Regulation 422 of the Building Interim Regulations 2017:

STEP 1 – Obtain written advice from Council’s Statutory Planning Department, verifying that a planning permit is or is not required for a shed / store on the subject vacant allotment.

If the written advice determines that a planning permit is required, go to STEP 2. If the written advice determines that a planning permit is not required, go to STEP 4.

STEP 2 – Make application and obtain the necessary Planning Permit for a shed / store on the subject vacant allotment, from Council’s Statutory Planning Department, and go to STEP 3.

STEP 3 – Take a copy of the Planning Permit and associated endorsed plans to your Building Surveyor.

Pursuant to Regulation 401 – Report and Consent application is not required if planning permit has been issued for construction of the building and the relevant planning scheme regulates the same matter in relation to the siting of that building.

STEP 4 – Make application for Report and Consent to Council’s Building Department.

Generally we grant report and consent if a building permit is issued for the construction of a dwelling and work has commenced at least to footing stage.
