VMBSG Women’s Network Workshop: Applying for AIBS Accreditation and other Continuing Professional Development

Russell Kennedy Lawyers are hosting a VMBSG Women’s Network event presented by AIBS and VBA.

The event will be held on Tuesday 18 February 2025 from 10:30 – 1:00 pm with networking and light refreshments from 10.00am prior to the commencement of the event.

Applying for AIBS Accreditation – A How To Guide!

Now that AIBS accreditation serves as a pathway for registration in Victoria, discover everything you need to know about the AIBS accreditation system.

This presentation will provide you with all the details to gain accreditation with AIBS including, what you need to do and submit and what the accreditation requirements are including all details for

  • Building Surveyor Unrestricted (level 1)
  • Building Surveyor Limited (Level 2)
  • Building Surveyor (Level 3)

Information and details will also be provided for where students, recent graduates or existing practitioners wanting to upgrade their accreditation on what is required to be submitted to apply for accreditation.

Dr Stephen Scimonello AMAIBS, AIBS Education and Accreditation Policy Manager

Stephen has a background in education, building surveying and planning. He is a registered building practitioner in the category of building surveyor – unlimited with the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) for over 24 years.

Stephen’s experience and qualifications as an academic and practising building surveyor, includes:

  • PhD, Master of Engineering, Master of Social Science (Planning & Environment), Bachelor of Technology (Building Surveying).
  • 10 years as Discipline Leader – Bachelor of Building Surveying & Graduate Diploma of Building Surveying at Holmesglen.
  • Involvement on previous government advisory panels including Advisory Reference Panel Member, VBA Representative with the Victorian Cladding Taskforce, external panel member on the VBA Technical Advisory Panel of Consultants, Building Regulations Advisory Committee with the VBA and contracted to a number of regional & rural Councils.
  • Previous AIBS Victoria Chapter Committee.
