Prior to entering the legal profession Mat Sherwell was with Victoria Police for 12 years honing his investigation and prosecution skills.

After joining the legal profession Mat spent 10 years at Maddocks Lawyers in their prosecution group.

In 2014, Mat decided to create SHM Lawyers which focuses on providing sound and practical legal advice as well as cost effective enforcement for local government. Mat is often found speaking at seminars, workshops and training sessions sharing his passion for all things enforcement and local government.

Mat regularly appears for Council clients in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Magistrates’ Court, County Court and the Supreme Court.
